Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said on Wednesday that the “government will rule nothing out” in the future with dealing with the pandemic.
But opposition politicians have hit out at Prime Minister Boris Johnson saying that talking about putting soldiers on the streets of England is “scaremongering.”
Raab told Sky News Kay Burley, “If they can relieve any capacity for the police… they’ll be there to do that.”
He pointed out that the British Army has been helping throughout the pandemic and have helped I various duties including helping to build the Nightingale Hospitals and delivering Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
“The reality is there will be stronger enforcement, more powers for the police, higher levels of fines – mainly for the small minority who haven’t always complied with the rules…”
