Amazon briefly overtakes Apple to become the world’s most valuable company

For a brief period on Monday, Microsoft managed to dethrone Apple as the most valuable company in the world.

At 1:05 p.m. ET, Apple’s $812.60bn market value fell below Microsoft’s $812.93bn, making Microsoft the world’s most valuable company.

The temporary win was, however, short-lived as Apple regained its position in no time. The last time Microsoft secured this lead was in 2010.

Tech giant Apple made history in August when it became the first-ever $1 trillion company. However,  the company stock has been on a downward slide since then amid weaker-than-expected iPhone sales and weak demand for the iPhone XR.
