In the liberated town of Trostyanets, which is near to the Russian border torture chambers were found some with dead beaten and “executed” bodies.

Two Ukrainian civilians named as Dima and Andrei told the Independent newspaper that they were stripped naked, threatened with rape and genital mutilation by Russian troops as they suffered a horrific ordeal.

Russian soldiers would beat their civilian prisoners to death shouting that “all Ukrainians must die,” and Dima said that eight people were forced to sit in their own excrement, starved and tortured.

President Zelensky said, “The democratic world must react to what the occupiers are doing in the south of Ukraine, in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

“Torture chambers are built there.

“They abduct representatives of local authorities and anyone deemed visible to local communities. They blackmail teachers.

“They steal money provided for paying pensions. Humanitarian aid is blocked and stolen. They create starvation.”
