The Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer is fighting for his political career and there is growing calls for him to resign and more than 50% of Brits want him gone also.
Starmer’s leadership hit new lows on Monday as the director of communications, Tim Allan resigned from his role this morning.
At the start of September Allen was appointed as Starmer’s executive director of communications in an attempt to “reset” Downing Street.
On Monday Allan said, “I have decided to stand down to allow a new No10 team to be built. I wish the PM and his team every success.”
Allan worked closely with Peter Mandelson and he is the former deputy press secretary under Tony Blair.
On Monday the Tory leader Kemi Bednenoch said that Starmer’s position remains “untenable.”
Badenoch has accused Starmer of being dishonest over his knowledge of Mandelson’s relationship with the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
The Tory leader said, “Keir Starmer knew, he knew. It is his judgment and the fact that he has been dishonest, he was dishonest – he claimed not to know, then he changed his story and claimed that he had been lied to.
She added, “It didn’t have to go this far. He could’ve released the files relating to the appointment, he chose not to do so because he is scared, he is weak, he throws other people under a bus, he’s got no backbone.
“That’s why he shouldn’t be Prime Minister.”
On Sunday Starmer’s chief of staff Morgan McSweeney resigned from his post and many will see his resignation as a fall for the Prime Minister.
