The Security Services of Ukraine (SBU) have launched the Sea Baby naval drone which hit one of Vladimir Putin’s sanctioned “shadow fleet” in the Black Sea in yet another successful attack.

The operation was a joint effort with the 13th Main Directorate of Military Counterintelligence of the SBU with the Ukrainian Navy, a source told Interfax-Ukraine.

The vessel, Dashan was sailing using the flag of the Comoros Islands in the economic zone of Ukraine whilst heading toward the Novorossiysk port terminal and had its transponder switched off, the SBU confirmed.

The Dashan suffered severe damage as a result of the brilliant attack which led to powerful explosions in the Black Sea.

The oil tanker had around $60 million of oil products onboard, according to sources and the ship is no longer functional.

“The SBU continues to take active measures to reduce petrodollar revenues to the Russian budget. Over the past two weeks, this is the third tanker of the ‘shadow fleet’ that has been put out of action, which helped the Kremlin circumvent international sanctions,” an informed source in the SBU said.

Anton Gerashchenko wrote on X, “Sea drones struck the Russian “shadow fleet” tanker Dashan in the Black Sea.

“The vessel, flying the flag of the Comoros, was sailing in Ukraine’s exclusive economic zone en route to the port terminal Novorossiysk. The tanker suffered critical damage and is reportedly out of operation.

“It is reported that the approximate value of such a tanker is $30 million, while a single voyage could carry petroleum products worth around $60 million.”
