Russia loses more than 900 elite specialists which took ‘years of effort and millions of dollars to train’ the soldiers

Vladimir Putin has lost more than 900 elite Russian military specialists since the war in Ukraine started, these include officers from special forces to marines and paratroopers.

BBC’s Russian Service Olga Ivshina said the elite specialists, ranges of regiments who took “years of effort and millions of dollars to train”

According to the US Russia has sustained around 80,000 troop losses throughout the war and the Ukraine estimates the number to an approximate 48,350 troops.

The US believes that Russia is facing “severe” shortages of troops in Ukraine and are recruiting prisoners to make up the numbers on the front line.

A US official told CNN, “We believe that the Russian Ministry of Defense (MOD) is seeking to recruit contract service members to make up for these personnel shortages, including by compelling wounded soldiers to reenter combat, acquiring personnel from private security companies, and paying bonuses to conscripts.”

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has said on Thursday during their operation briefing that Ukraine has killed 450 people from pro-Russian forces, which takes the total number of claimed casualties to “about 48,350.”

The statement added, “[The] Russian enemy suffered the greatest losses (of the past day) at the Donetsk and Kurakhove directions.”
