‘Russia has assembled troops and artillery’ near to NATO border of Poland with fears Putin may have goals beyond Ukraine

Satellite images are showing that Russian troops and artillery are building up in Brest, Belarus which is 10 miles from the Polish border.

Within weeks Putin placed 200,000 troops on the Ukrainian border then invaded and US intelligence has said Moscow have assembled more than 50 heavy equipment transporters.

Pentagon national security reporter Jack Detsch said that Putin has ordered more than 50 heavy equipment transporters at the training area in Brest.

A nearby railyard which links into Poland has more troops and military hardware, according to the correspondent for Foreign Policy magazine added.

Some Russian missiles are landing on NATO’s doorstep with explosions being reported on the Polish border.

According to a map by BNO News, Russian attacks have now been reported with some very close to the Polish border.

GB News’ Tom Harwood tweeted on Thursday, “Many of these are attacks that are taking place just miles from NATO’s borders.

“Look how close some of those explosions are to Poland.”

The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken warned that he believes Vladimir Putin could have goals beyond Ukraine and he is unsure at this stage why Russia has built up troops near to the NATO border of Poland.

US Secretary of State told CBS Evening News, “You don’t need intelligence to tell you that that’s exactly what President Putin wants.

“He’s [Putin] made clear that he’d like to reconstitute the Soviet empire.

“Short of that, he’d like to reassert a sphere of influence around neighbouring countries that were once part of the Soviet bloc.

“And short of that, he’d like to make sure that all of these countries are somehow neutral.”

“There is something very powerful standing in the way of that, and it’s something we call Article Five,” Blinken added.

Blinken told ABC news that Article Five of NATO’s founding treaty would mean that an invasion of Poland would automatically put the US, UK, France, Canada and other members into immediate war.

Blinken added, “An attack on one member of NATO is an attack on all members of NATO.

“The president has been very clear that we will defend every inch of NATO territory.”

The Russian President Vladimir Putin “won’t stop” once he has finished with Ukraine as he “is not rational” the British Defence Secretary has warned on Friday morning.

General Sir Richard Shirreff, a retired British Army Officer and a former Deputy Supreme Allied Commander warned that the UK could soon be at war with Russia.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme on Friday morning General Shirreff said, “There is no surprise and there is profound sadness and a sense of appalling horror at what is about to unfold for the people of Ukraine.

“And I think we have to assume that this is not Russia biting off a chunk of Ukraine – for example, establishing a land corridor in Crimea – but a full-blown military offensive to occupy Ukraine.”

He was asked if Britain might be expected to engage and take part directly in the ongoing military action he said, “Absolutely there is a possibility that we as a nation could be at war with Russia, because if Russia puts one bootstep across Nato territory, we are all at war with Russia. Every single one, every single member of the Nato alliance.”
