Chancellor Rishi Sunak will announce to MPs in the House of Commons on Thursday a raft of new measures to save jobs from the next coronavirus wave hitting England.
Sunak said on Twitter, “As our response to coronavirus adapts, tomorrow afternoon I will update the House of Commons on our plans to continue protecting jobs through the winter.”
The furlough scheme ends on 31 October, which has cost £39.3bn to date, and Sunak has been working hard to find a new scheme.
It has been reported that Sunak has been working on a German style scheme to prevent mass unemployment after 31 October.
