Prime Minister Boris Johnson is to address the nation from Downing Street on Thursday evening, to set out the new stricter three tier system.
It is expected that the press briefing will take place at 5pm, but nothing has been confirmed as yet.
This will come after the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock will address the House of Commons on Thursday, whereby he will announce the which tier local authorities across England will be placed into.
The new tougher three tier system will take effect from Wednesday at one-minute past midnight and will stay in place until March 2021.
There will be a partial easing of restrictions for just five days over Christmas from 23 to 27 December to allow families to reunite for the festive season.
