Price of oil falls after Iran signals a commitment

Iran has said they are committed to nuclear non-proliferation (NPT) which saw the price of oil fall.

West Texas Intermediate fell 0.2% to $66.84 per barrel whilst Brent crude futures dropped 0.4% to $68.55 a barrel.

On Thursday Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi wrote on X Tehran “remains committed to the NPT and its Safeguards Agreement.”

Susannah Streeter, head of money and markets at Hargreaves Lansdown, said, “The price of oil hasn’t shifted much, as traders await the outcome of the OPEC+ meeting on potential production increases.
