Odds cut to 11/10 from 2/1 on Boris Johnson to step down as PM in 2022 as pressure mounts over ‘partygate’

Betfair Exchange punters have heavily backed Boris Johnson to vacate No10 this year and the PM is now 11/10 to leave his role in 2022, having been 2/1 on Wednesday.

2022 is the most likely year Johnson will step down as Conservative leader, with 2023 7/2 and 2024 or later 6/4, whilst Liz Truss is the 5/1 favourite to be the next Conservative leader after Boris Johnson, with Tom Tugendhat next at 13/2 and Rishi Sunak 9/1.

Betfair Exchange spokesperson, Sam Rosbottom, said. “Boris Johnson faces a tricky few days as the consequences of ‘partygate’ continue to mount and Betfair Exchange punters have responded by backing him to 11/10 from 2/1 to step down in 2022.

“Liz Truss is the 5/1 favourite in an open market to replace Johnson, with Tom Tugendhat next at 13/2, while Rishi Sunak is 9/1.”
