North Korean soldiers ‘are already taking casualties’ in Russia’s Kursk region

8th Nov 24 9:03 am

President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed on Friday that North Korean soldiers engaged in fighting in Russia’s Kursk Oblast region “are already taking casualties.”

On 6 August Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) started their incursion inside the Kursk Oblast region involving thousands of troops.

This has angered Vladimir Putin and has deployed around 11,000 North Korean soldiers to the Kursk Oblast to push back the UAF.

During a press conference at the European Political Community summit in Budapest President Zelensky said, “Currently, 11,000 North Korean soldiers are present on Russian territory near the Ukrainian border, specifically in Kursk Oblast.

“Some of these troops have already taken part in combat operations against Ukrainian forces, and there are already casualties.”

Zelensky has consistently been asking the West to use long-range missiles inside Russia to strike “legitimate military targets” and they could then pre-emptively target “every camp” of North Korean soldiers.

On the sidelines of the summit Zelensky met with the French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss long-range missiles.

On Thursday Zelensky said, “We discussed military assistance, including the training of the Ukrainian Anne of Kyiv Brigade, as well as our long-range capabilities.

“We greatly appreciate France’s participation in most of the coalitions within the Ramstein format, and I am grateful to Emmanuel Macron for supporting the Victory Plan.”

He added, “Europe’s unity in supporting Ukraine is essential.”
