Hotel Chocolat has finished its year to June with substantial further expansion of its chocolate empire.

Half of the 12% growth in revenue was contributed by 15 store openings, while there were 200,000 new online customers.

Paul Hickman, analyst at Edison Investment Research: “Hotel Chocolat has finished its year to June with substantial further expansion of its chocolate empire. Half of the 12% growth in revenue was contributed by 15 store openings, while there were 200,000 new online customers. Results are flagged in line with expectations.

“Hotel Chocolat has formed its strategy around its distinctive premium brand and this brand focus is a source of strength. Not only does it give the company the natural opportunity to expand both on the ground and online, but it is able to exploit the brand in multifarious ways to suit conditions.

“Hence Christmas and gift occasions have brought brand variants, and in the recent heatwave a range of hot weather products such as Ice Cream of the Gods and chilled chocolate drinks demonstrate the brand’s versatility. As Angus Thirlwell, the Willie Wonka of the retail world says, “customers are continuing to respond well to our luxury brand and lifestyle propositions.”
