Moscow has threatened to attack a new US base in Poland on Thursday with “advanced weapons” after launching a new type of missile in Dnipro, Ukraine.
Last week Polish and US inaugurated the new NATO base in Poland to secure the country further and the alliance in the event of an attack.
From the start of the base being built Moscow protested at the facility being built as a challenge to the Russian military warning this will require measures “to ensure parity.”
Moscow has claimed that the ballistic missile base in Redzikowo, northern Poland will “increase the overall level of nuclear danger” and as such the NATO base is now on a list of Russian targets.
On Thursday Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said during a briefing, “This is another frankly provocative step in a series of deeply destabilising actions by the Americans and their allies.”

The Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman said there are no nuclear weapons at the new NATO base and it only serves to be defensive.
Pawel Wronski, the spokesman said, “Such threats will certainly serve as an argument to strengthen Poland’s and NATO’s air defences, and should also be considered by the United States.”
Russia attacked Ukraine with a “new type” of missile on Thursday morning which has the “characteristics” of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICMB).
Ukrainian authorities have said an “examination” is ongoing to determine the type of this new ballistic missile that Russia launched and it is not known at this stage if the Kremlin are referring to their new “advanced weapons” being the one that his Dnipro.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that “our crazy neighbour” has once again showed his true colours.
During a video address on Thursday President Zelensky said, “Today, our crazy neighbour once again showed what he really is and how he despises dignity, freedom, and the lives of people in general.
“And how afraid he is. So afraid that he uses new missiles. And he is looking around the world for where else to find weapons. Sometimes in Iran, sometimes in North Korea. Today there was a new Russian missile.
“All the characteristics: speed, altitude – intercontinental ballistic. The examinations are still underway.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said that Vladimir Putin is escalating the war and that Russia is not seeking peace.
“We are awaiting the experts’ conclusions to determine the exact type of new missile Russia launched at Ukraine this morning, which displayed all the flight-technical characteristics of an intercontinental ballistic missile,” the spokesperson stated.
