More trouble for Tata Steel as SFO launches criminal inquiry

So far, nine employees have also been suspended

Tata Steel is being investigated by the Serious Fraud Office after allegations emerged that staff tampered with steel quality certificates.

Over 500 clients, including Roll-Royce and BAE, are known to have been affecting by the trading standard breach.

So far, nine employees have also been suspended.

The news comes as Tata Steel put up its entire UK business on the market putting 15,000 jobs at risk.  

Tata said that Port Talbot, Britain’s biggest steelworks, was losing £1m a day.
