Major airport cancels all departing flights affecting BA and easyJet

Brussels Airport has cancelled all departing flights from Wednesday as workers are set to walk out for industrial action.

Brussels Airport is the largest in the country which will affect major airlines such as British Airways, easyJet, Brussels Airlines, SkyRefund reported.

Around 30 flights that were due to depart Brussels Airport will be affected and hundreds of passengers will now have to make alternative travel plans.

Brussels Airport said in a statement, “Due to the national industrial action on Wednesday 26 November in which the staff of the security and handling service provider is participating, we unfortunately expect major disruptions to our airport operations on that day.

To ensure the safety of passengers and staff, we have decided, in consultation with the airlines, not to operate any departing flights on 26 November.

“In the upcoming days, the airlines will contact passengers directly to inform them of their options.

The strike action comes as the Prime Minister Bart De Wever is proposing new legislation to reform labour laws.

The proposed legislation includes pensions, benefits as part of the government to curb their debt pile.
