The Foreign Secretary Liz Truss is 1/8 to be the next Tory leader, which is an 89% likelihood on Betfair’s Barometer – as Rishi Sunak’s chances remain slim and is as far out as 8/1 to replace Boris Johnson in No.10.

Meanwhile, odds on Keir Starmer to leave his role as Labour leader this year have been slashed to 10/1 from 15/1 overnight as he continues to come under pressure for sacking a junior shadow minister who joined striking rail workers on the picket line.

Betfair Exchange: Next Conservative leader

Liz Truss: 1/8

Rishi Sunak: 8/1

Betfair Exchange: Overall majority at next General Election

No majority: 5/6

Conservative majority: 3/1

Labour majority: 7/2

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said, “Punters on Betfair Exchange continue to back Liz Truss to be the next Tory leader. The foreign secretary is the 1/8 odds-on favourite to replace Boris Johnson, which gives her an 89% likelihood on Betfair’s Barometer.

“Who Truss or Sunak face in the next General Election could come into question with odds on Labour leader Keir Starmer leaving his role this year being slashed to 10/1 from 15/1 overnight. Starmer continues to come under pressure for sacking a junior shadow minister who joined striking rail workers on the picket line on Wednesday.”
