Forbes magazine recently said figuring out Russian President Vladimir Putin’s net worth is “probably the most elusive riddle in wealth hunting”.
But one can try…
Putin, who has been fiercely criticised for his attack on Ukraine, claimed in 2018 official documents that his salary is $140,000.
Documents also showed he owns an 800-square-foot apartment in St. Petersburg, along with two Soviet-era cars and an off-road truck.
People who’ve met Putin up close say that he has an exquisite watch collection which are mostly limited edition.
According to CNN, among the luxuries that have been linked to Putin’s friends and family, but never directly to him, are a $100 million mega-yacht and a Black Sea palace allegedly built for Putin’s personal use.
UK financier Bill Browder, who shot to fame for attacking Putin, believes the Russian president to be “one of the wealthiest men in the world,” with assets totaling up to $200 billion.
That sum would make Putin richer than Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk.
