German Pfizer vaccine could hit England ‘before Christmas’

29th Oct 20 1:14 pm

German coronavirus vaccine made by Pfizer, could be ready before Christmas according to UK government officials.

The Pfizer backed vaccine is being developed by a German company Biontech, The Times newspaper reported.

Albert Bourla Pfizer’s chief executive told the newspaper the government has bought 30m doses of the drug, as they are in their “last mile” of development.

Once the company has enough safety data the company plans to file for an emergency authorisation for the vaccine from regulators.

Pfizer are hoping to be able to produce 100m doses globally by the end of this year, subject to the regulators, and will produce a further 1bn by 2021.

According to Sky News the government want to vaccinate 30m people across the UK.
