The boss of Eurostar, Mike Cooper, has dismissed warnings from French National Railways (SNCF), which said it could be forced to temporarily suspend Eurostar services linking London, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.
“We continue to zoom … between London and Brussels, London and Paris, London and Amsterdam,” he said.
“We will continue to do so regardless of the outcome of political negotiations.”
He said the firm had secured licenses that would enable it to continue to operate even in the case of a no-deal Brexit.
“We’re in the best possible position we can be given the environment we see around us,” he said.
However, Cooper acknowledged: “There’s clearly an air of uncertainty.”
