Donald Trump has become the new 2/1 favourite to win the 2024 US election after a Washington Post-ABC poll gave him a 10-point lead over Joe Biden.

Punters reacted and backed the former President to win a second term and caused his odds to shorten from being a 13/5 outsider.

Biden was the 9/5 favourite before the poll, but now trails the Republican at 12/5.

Biden is 1/2 to secure the Democratic nomination, but these odds have drifted from 2/5 as Gavin Newsom emerges as the most-likely challenger to be on the ballot and his odds have shortened to 7/1 from 9/1.

Betfair Exchange spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said, “We have a new favourite in the 2024 race to the White House as Donald Trump has become the 2/1 market leader to win the US Election.

“Joe Biden was the 9/5 favourite but is now the 12/5 outsider after punters rushed to back Trump following a new poll that put the Republican ahead of the incumbent.

“Biden was a very strong 2/5 to be the Democratic nominee but has drifted slightly to 1/2 as Gavin Newsom emerges as the most-likely challenger to become the blue name on the ballot paper with his odds of running for President shortening to 7/1 from 9/1.”
