The Brexit minister Stephen Barclay MP has told Michel Barnier the EU’s chief negotiator that the UK wants a deal but will leave on 31 October with or without one.
They spoke Tuesday evening and Barclay relayed the government’s intention to Barnier.
In a tweet Barclay wrote, “Spoke to Michel Barnier today and made our position clear: We want a deal but are leaving the EU on October 31 with or without one.”
