Brexit deal odds-on to sink amid expectations of heaviest ever government defeat

Betway are braced for Theresa May’s Brexit deal to trigger the worst ever defeat witnessed in the House of Commons at just 1/10, while the leading online bookmaker also goes 5/6 for the vote to be followed by Jeremy Corbyn tabling a vote of no confidence.

The odds firmly suggest that former Labour PM Ramsay MacDonald, who was red-faced by a margin of 166 votes in 1924, is set to be relieved from his place in the history books when MPs vote on May’s deal tomorrow.

May is as big as 6/1 to avoid an historic bashing and more than double that at 14/1 to secure a sufficient number of yeses for the vote to pass.

Betway then offer 5/6 for a vote of no confidence to be tabled immediately after the vote, 4/1 for any minister to resign and 10/1 for the PM to call time on her premiership there and then.

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “It would be a huge shock if Theresa May were to gain enough support to pass her Brexit deal tomorrow and, at just 1/10, the odds suggests it’s actually very likely for this to be the worst ever government defeat.

“Analysts have predicted some 200 MPs will vote against the deal and that would take us easily past Ramsay McDonald’s loss of 166 almost 100 years ago, and we think such as damming defeat could lead to Jeremy Corbyn tabling a vote of no confidence at just 5/6.”
