Boris 2/1 to be next Tory leader as he makes late dash back to UK, whilst Sunak ‘secures 100 nominations from Tory MPs’

Boris Johnson is 2/1 to be the next Tory leader as he was seen flying back to the UK from the Dominican Republic on Friday night and landed at Gatwick Airport on Saturday morning.

Rishi Sunak, who has secured the 100 nominations from Tory MPs to run in the leadership contest, is the 4/7 odds-on favourite to replace Liz Truss, while Penny Mordaunt is 17/1.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said, “Boris Johnson, who was pictured on a plane leaving the Dominican Republic to return to the UK on Friday night, is the 2/1 second-favourite to be the next Tory leader, just three months after resigning from the position.

“The former Prime Minister is odds-on at 8/15 to receive the necessary 100 nominations from party MPs to run in the leadership contest.

“Rishi Sunak is yet to publicly declare if he’ll run in the race, but has secured the 100 nominations and is the 4/7 odds-on favourite to replace Liz Truss.

“Meanwhile, Penny Mordaunt’s odds to move into No.10 have drifted to 17/1 from 6/1 overnight.”
