The US has place Chinese tech company Huawei on a trade black list that “sets a dangerous precedent” that will harm billions of their customers, a top legal officer said.
Son Liuping said at a press conference the trade ban will “directly harm” US companies and jobs.
Earlier this month President Donald Trump gave an executive order banning US companies from doing any business with Huawei, this immediately disrupted the tech sector.
Song said the blacklist “threatens to harm our customers in over 170 countries, including more than three billion customers who use Huawei products and services around the world.
“By preventing American companies from doing business with Huawei, the government will directly harm more than 1,200 US companies.
“This will affect tens of thousands of American jobs.”
He added, “Politicians in the US are using the strength of an entire nation to come after a private company.
“This is not normal.”
