WPP is merging its agencies, J Walter Thompson and Wunderman, and the new entity will be known as Wunderman Thompson.

Mel Edwards, global chief executive of Wunderman, will head the enlarged agency as global chief executive. “It’s going to make us a richer, more powerful, more interesting agency,” Edwards confirmed in an interview with Campaign.
Meanwhile, Tamara Ingram, global chief executive of J Walter Thompson, will become chairman of Wunderman Thompson.
Advertising giant WPP was built by Martin Sorrell through acquisition and consists of dozens of companies specialising in media buying and planning, data analytics and creative advertising work.
