The US President’s envoy to Greenland, Governor Jeff Landry issued a warning on Friday saying that a deal to have the Arctic island “should and will be made.”
Landry said he is planning to travel to Greenland in March and made it clear that Donald Trump “is serious” about having the island.
Speaking to Fox News on Friday, “I do believe that there’s a deal that should and will be made once this plays out.”
He added, “The president is serious. I think he’s laid the markers down.

“He’s told Denmark what he’s looking for, and now it’s a matter of having secretary [of state, Marco] Rubio and vice-president JD Vance make a deal.”
Torsten Schack Pedersen, Denmark’s minister for public safety and emergency preparedness, said, “It is important that we stand together,” the Guardian reported.
On Friday eleven US lawmakers and two Republicans arrived in Copenhagen to show their support for Denmark amid threats from Donald Trump.
Democratic Senator Chris Coons will meet with the Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen and the Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
Earlier this week Coons said, “At a time of increasing international instability, we need to draw closer to our allies, not drive them away,” saying that the delegation will send a “clear message that Congress is committed to NATO.”
The German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said the situation is tense, he told German public TV station ARD last night, “What we’re dealing with here is more of a power play.”
Pistorius said that US Congress will have the decision over what happens with Greenland.
He said that Trump’s argument for Greenland does not exist, “by us saying we can secure the territory, your security concerns, we don’t just share them, but we are working to meet them together.”
Retired US general Ben Hodges and the former commander of the US Army Europe does not believe Trump will invade Greenland as it belongs to Denmark.
General Hodges said, “I feel pretty confident that there’s not going to be an invasion, that they won’t use military, because it would be one of the stupidest own goals by America in the last century because of all the damage that that would cause.”
“However, I take very seriously the president’s intention to have Greenland,” Hodges added.
