Ukraine strikes deep into Russian military network in escalating shadow war

Ukraine’s armed forces say they have carried out a series of targeted strikes on Russian military infrastructure across occupied territory and inside Russia, hitting ammunition depots, logistics hubs and command positions in what appears to be a sustained effort to disrupt Moscow’s battlefield coordination.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said units struck an ammunition depot near Bilolutsk in the Luhansk region, along with logistics facilities in Boikivske in Donetsk and the Zaporizhzhia region.

Command and observation posts were also reportedly targeted in Lysychansk and other occupied areas of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia, the Kyiv Post reported.

Ukrainian forces also said they hit a facility in Tyotkino in Russia’s Kursk region, marking another strike on infrastructure inside Russian territory close to the border.

In addition, Kyiv said drone control hubs near Zaporizhzhia were destroyed, while troop concentrations in the Sumy, Luhansk and Donetsk regions were also struck.

The claims could not be independently verified.

The operation forms part of what Ukrainian officials describe as a wider campaign to degrade Russia’s logistics and command network, aimed at reducing its ability to sustain large-scale aerial and artillery attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Earlier this week, Ukraine said it had struck a Black Sea Fleet command centre in occupied Sevastopol and a separate command post in Russia’s Belgorod region.

Kyiv has also previously claimed responsibility for deep-strike drone operations reaching as far as Russia’s Ural region, targeting infrastructure thousands of kilometres from the front line.

The strikes come amid continued heavy Russian aerial bombardment of Ukraine. Ukrainian officials reported that Russia launched hundreds of drones and missiles in renewed attacks on Friday and Saturday, with major cities including Dnipro, Kharkiv and Odesa coming under fire.

As both sides escalate long-range operations, the war is increasingly characterised by parallel campaigns targeting rear-area logistics, command infrastructure and energy systems, alongside sustained attacks on urban centres.

Russian authorities have not publicly confirmed damage to the sites named by Ukraine.
