Ukraine is considering lowering the enlistment age to 18 as “Western weapons alone are not enough” to fight Russia’s war.

President Volodymyr Zelensky’s advisor said that Washington is putting pressure on Ukraine to lower the fighting age.

The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Serhiy Leschenko said that the US argued during the Vietnam war men aged 19 an older were sent to fight.

Leschenko said on Telegram, “As long as this information has risen to the surfaced, I can confirm: American politicians from both parties are pressuring President Zelenskyy regarding the issue of why Ukraine is not mobilizing those between 18 and 25 years old.”

He added, “Therefore, the Americans hint: Western weapons alone are not enough, we need mobilization from the age of 18.

“President Zelensky withstood and continues to convince politicians from both parties to give weapons without changing the draft age.”
