US President Donald Trump has warned tariffs on China could be “raised significantly” if the two countries can’t strike a trade deal soon.
Speaking at The Economic Club of New York, Mr Trump said negotiators were close to an striking an initial trade agreement, adding China was “dying to make a deal” to to resolve their long-running dispute.
“If we don’t make a deal, we’re going to substantially raise those tariffs, they’re going to be raised very substantially,” he said.
