Trump sends Columbia and Cuba a warning shot

5th Jan 26 1:25 pm

The US President issued a warning on Sunday night whilst onboard Air Force One and suggested America could take military action on Columbia.

Trump made reference to Columbia’s President Gustavo Petro, he said, “Colombia is very sick, too, ‍run by a sick man, who likes making cocaine and selling ‌it to the United States, ‌and he’s not going to be doing it very long.”

This comes as US special forces captured the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro from Caracas and he is due to appear in a US court on Monday as he has been charged with drug trafficking.

Donald Trump said during a press conference that Washington will “run” Venezuela until there is a “proper transition” of power, it will most likely be a US appointed leader.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, “When [Trump] tells you that he’s going to do something, when he tells you he’s going to address a problem, he means it.”

Trump has criticised the Columbian President on narcotics and cocaine exports and said the country has failed to control the issue, he warned that if the issues are not sorted then “decisive” action may follow.

Trump then took aim at Cuba’s government saying is facing financial and economic problems, the US President warned that “Cuba looks like it is ready to fall,” suggesting the US could place pressure to pursue political changes in the country.
