The consulate, considered a high-risk location, has previously faced security threats. Around a year ago, Istanbul security forces arrested a man who opened fire near the building. No injuries occurred, and the consulate was unharmed.
Following the attacks on October 7, the consulate was temporarily evacuated, but staff later returned and resumed operations, maintaining a low profile.
