Satellite images provided by Maxar shows that thousands of Russian troops have left Belarus and are in a 3.5 mile long convoy heading for Kyiv.
The satelite image was taken on Sunday and at the time the Russian troops were north east of the Ukrainian city Ivankiv, Maxar Technologies said.
Amongst the 3.5 miles convoy are tanks, self-propelled artillery, armoured vehicles, infantry fighting vehicles and logistical vehicles which around 40 miles from Kyiv.
Kyiv is home to around 3 million people and Russian troops are preparing for a full scale invasion of the city and are attempting to surround the capital.
Ukrainian citizens have been warned to stay clear of windows in case they are shot and are being urged to head to the bunkers.
Russian troops have offered safe passage for civilians to leave via a safe route which means an attack is “highly likely” on Kyiv.
Weapons are being given to Ukrainian residents and prisoners who have military experience are being released from prison to fight if they want to.
