Thailand has launched a barrage of airstrikes on Cambodia along the share disputed border as tensions rise in South East Asia.

Both Thailand and Cambodia are blaming each other for the flare up following months of a US led truce.

In July there was five days of attacks which claimed many lives of civilians caught up in the skirmish and many soldiers were also killed.

Thai army spokesperson Maj. Gen. Winthai Suvaree blamed Cambodian troops for initiating the attack on their territory in many areas and said a Thai soldier was killed leaving four injures and civilians have been evacuated.

Thai military aircraft targeted “in several areas to suppress Cambodian supporting fire attacks,” in retaliation for Cambodian forces who allegedly attacked first.

The Cambodian Defence Ministry spokesperson Lieutenant General Maly Socheata refuted Thailand’s claims saying they fired first.

Lieutenant General Socheata said, “Cambodia urges that Thailand immediately stop all hostile activities that threaten peace and stability in the region.”
