WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who’s been living at the Ecuadorean embassy in London since 2012, might be questioned by Swedish prosecutors in the capital.

The prosecutors are seeking permission to come to the capital to question Assange over sex assault allegations. They are also asking to conduct a DNA test.

Assange set up Wikileaks in 2006 and revealed thousands of secret documents which contained classified information about the US government. At the time, US vice president Joe Biden branded him a “terrorist”

In 2010, Sweden wanted to arrest Assange on claims of sexual assault. Assange denies the charges and was granted asylum by the government of Ecuador in 2012.

Assange is reluctant to go to Sweden as he fears he could be extradited to the US to face charges for one of the largest information leaks in American history.

Since 2012, Scotland Yard has spent over £10m on guarding the Ecuadorian Embassy in Knightbridge. According to figures revealed by the Standard in February, Met Police are spending £10,500 a day to guard the embassy.
