The Swedish government are considering sending “Gripin” fighter jets to Ukraine and will soon instruct their armed forces over the possibility of the transfer.

The Swedish government needs to assess the training of Ukrainian fighter jet pilots and ground personnel.

The Swedish JAS 39 Gripen is a fourth-generation multi-role fighter jet which is more than capable of performing various combat tasks and would be an absolute game changer for Ukraine to control their skies again.

“Among other things, the government wants to get information about how the transfer will affect Sweden’s defense capability and how quickly Sweden will be able to receive new Gripen aircraft as compensation.”

According to the Wall Street Journal Ukraine could have at least a “handful” of their fighter pilots ready to fly the promised F-16s by early February.
