The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have confirmed on Wednesday that Russia is training more than 10,000 North Korean soldiers for war in Ukraine.
Moscow is training the North Korean troops in preparation to free up Russian troops for rotation.
RBC-Ukraine reported that a source said that thousands of North Korean troops will be deployed to the border areas close to Ukraine.
Sources told the media outlet on Tuesday the Russian Army are creating a special Buryat battalion which will have around 3,000 soldiers which will be North Korean.
The “special Buryat battalion” is based on the 11th Separate Air Assault Brigade and North Korean soldiers will make up the ranks, UAF sources told the publication.

On 6 August the UAF made an incursion into the Kursk region of the Russian Federation and sources have said they believe the North Korean soldiers will enter that region to carry out combat missions and also in the large town of Suzdha.
The Ukrainian President has confirmed on Tuesday following an intelligence briefing, that North Korean soldiers are actively participating “in the war.”
President Volodymyr Zelensky said after a meeting with the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters, there was a report from intelligence agencies on the actual inclusion of North Korea in the war.
President Zelensky said, “I held the Headquarters meeting. Several questions. Among the main ones was the report from intelligence agencies – the Foreign Intelligence Service and the Main Intelligence Agency on the intentions of the Russians for the autumn and winter.
“Everything was quite detailed.
“The actual inclusion of North Korea in the war. Also, Russia’s relations with some other countries, which, unfortunately, are investing in prolonging the war.”
The president said he has given specific tasks to the Defense Forces, Security Forces, the government and diplomats over the matter.
Over the weekend the Washington Post reported that senior Ukrainian intelligence officer said that North Koren soldiers are already fighting in occupied territories of Ukraine and thousands are in Russia receiving training readying to fight in the war.
Ukrainian intelligence official said, “It could have a significant impact.
“Especially if we’re talking about freeing up reserves within the territory of the Russian Federation itself.”
