Rishi Sunak is all but set to be the next Tory leader at 1/25, according to punters on Betfair Exchange, after Boris Johnson dropped out of the race on Sunday night.
Penny Mordaunt, who is yet to receive the required 100 nominations to partake in the leadership contest, is 20/1 to succeed Liz Truss, meanwhile, Johnson is 8/1 to serve in Sunak’s cabinet, while he is 4/1 to work under Mordaunt.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said, “With Boris Johnson dropping out of the race, it’s left the door wide open for Rishi Sunak to be the next Tory leader with the former Chancellor the clear 1/25 favourite to succeed Liz Truss.
“Penny Mordaunt is yet to gain the required 100-plus nominations to join the leadership contest, but she will be hoping Johnson’s supporters move to back her.
“As it stands, the Portsmouth North MP is 20/1 to move into No.10. Looking at Johnson’s possible next move, he is 8/1 to serve in Sunak’s cabinet and 4/1 to work under Mordaunt.”
