The US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to the Russian President Vladimir Putin, that if it is true, they paid the Taliban to kill US troops he will “respond appropriately.”

A furious Trump said on Wednesday, that if US intelligence reports are “true, I’d be very angry about it.

“But if you tell me they’re doing it, I would certainly take that under consideration. I would respond appropriately.”

This comes as intelligence reports suggest that Russian military intelligence place bounties on US troops in 2019.

These intelligence reports, if true, will most certainly derail any peace talks between the US and the Taliban over the Afghanistan war which has lasted 19-years.

President Trump said he has not discussed this matter with Putin, in an interview with Axios on HBO.

Trump said, “I have never discussed it with him.”

When asked why he did not raise this serious issue in a call with the Russian leader last Thursday, Trump said, “That was a phone call to discuss other things.

“And frankly that’s an issue that many people said was fake news.”

The US President added, “It never reached my desk. You know why? Because they didn’t think – intelligence, they didn’t think it was real.

“I wouldn’t mind – if it reached my desk, I would have done something about it.”

Russia and the Taliban have strenuously denied the allegations.
