Labour MPs have met with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) along with supply chain companies and they are assessing the impact of the cyber-attack.

The Department for Business and Trade said that they’ve held discussions over the impact of the attack and are working to help resolve the situation.

Business Secretary Peter Kyle and Industry Minister Chris McDonald met with officials and the CEO of JLR PB Balaji.

JLR released a statement that they have extended the shutdown until 1 October, and they are “building the timeline” for a phased restart of operations.

JLR are working with the National Cyber Security Centre, law enforcement and cybersecurity specialists.

JLR said in a statement, “Our focus remains on supporting our customers, suppliers, colleagues, and our retailers, who remain open.

We fully recognise this is a difficult time for all connected with JLR and we thank everyone for their continued support and patience.

Kyle said the cyber-attack has caused a “deeply worrying time” for the business, workers and the supply chain.

Kyle added, “Getting JLR back online as soon as possible is my top priority, providing much-needed certainty to workers and suppliers.

This Government is on the side of our world-leading automotive sector and by working closely with JLR and the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), we are doing everything we can to minimise the impact of this incident, as well as helping the sector thrive long into the future through our modern Industrial Strategy.”
