Liz Truss 8/1 to step down this year after tax cuts U-turn and Boris Johnson is 8/1 to come back as Prime Minister

The Prime Minister Liz Truss is 8/1 to leave her role as Tory leader this year after her U-turn on tax cuts earlier this week, while she is 7/5 to go in 2023 and 12/5 to depart in 2024.

Rishi Sunak is the 4/1 favourite to succeed Truss, with her predecessor, Boris Johnson, 8/1 to regain his control of the Conservative party and other contenders include Kemi Badenoch (7/1) and James Cleverly and Ben Wallace (both 11/1)

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “With pressure mounting on new Prime Minister Liz Truss after her U-turn on tax cuts, she is 8/1 to leave her role this year and 7/5 to go in 2023.

“Rishi Sunak, who lost out to Truss in last month’s Tory leadership contest, is the 4/1 favourite to be the party’s next leader.

“Kemi Badenoch also fell short in the Tory leadership race and trails behind Sunak at 7/1 to succeed Truss.

“Meanwhile, Truss’ predecessor, Boris Johnson, is 8/1 to win back his position as party leader, less than three months after resigning.”
