Following the assassination of the Hamas leader in Tehran overnight the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has warned Israel there will be “harsh punishment.”
Ali Khamenei has blamed Israel for the assassination which has fanned the flames in the Middle East and the region is preparing for all-out war.
Iran’s Supreme Leader said, “With this action, the criminal and terrorist Zionist regime prepared the ground for harsh punishment for itself, and we consider it our duty to seek revenge for his blood as he was martyred in the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Hamas’ military section issued a major warning that Ismail Haniyeh’s assassination “takes the battle to new dimensions and will have major repercussions on the entire region.

“The enemy made a miscalculation by expanding the circle of aggression and killing leaders of the resistance in various places and violating the sovereignty of states in the region.”
The new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian who was sworn in on Tuesday said that Israel will regret the “cowardly” murder of Haniyeh.
He added that Iran will “defend its territorial integrity, honour pride and dignity.”
A few hours prior to the assassination in Tehran Israel attacked the Lebanese capital, Beirut and killed Hezbollah’s top commander Fouad Shukr in a rocket strike.
Israeli fighter jets bombed the Hezbollah commander in a “precision strike” and Israel says that Shukr was killed in an “intelligence-based elimination” in Beirut.
Hezbollah said the Israeli fighter jet strikes caused a “number of citizens.”
The group said in a statement, “Since the incident, the Civil Defence teams have been working diligently but slowly to remove the rubble due to the condition of the destroyed layers.
“We are still waiting for the outcome that those concerned with this process will reach regarding the fate of the great and dear leader and other citizens in this place, so that the necessary action can be taken.”
