Government issues urgent travel advice for Brits who’ve booked holidays

15th Apr 24 10:29 am

The government has issued travel warning for Brits who have booked holidays to three locations.

Brits who have booked holidays to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Egypt and Morocco are being strongly advised by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to “stay up to date.”

This comes as Iran attacked Israel on Saturday evening and on Sunday the Israeli war cabinet have warned there will be a counter-attack for Tehran.

Should there be any escalation this will happen exceptionally quickly as “terrorists” are threatening to carry out attacks in the Gulf region” which is “very likely” to happen.

FCDO has issued a warning, “On April 13, 2024, Iran carried out military action against Israel. Monitor this travel advice and other media as the situation is changing fast.”

The FCDO are warning that “no travel can be guaranteed safe” no matter where you are travelling too.

The FCDO is warning that terrorists are “likely” or “very likely” to carry out attacks across Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Egypt and Morocco.

In the UAE, the FCO states: “Terrorists continue to issue statements threatening to carry out attacks in the Gulf region. These include references to attacks on western interests, including against UK citizens.”

The FCDO travel advice for Morocco, reads: “There is an increased threat linked to the number of Moroccans sympathetic or belonging to Daesh (formerly ISIL) and other extremist groups. Authorities regularly disrupt terrorist cells.

“Places at higher risk of attack include: crowded areas, government installations, transportation networks, businesses with Western interests [and] areas where foreign nationals and tourists are known to gather.”

For Egypt, the FCO says, “There is a high threat of terrorist attack globally affecting UK interests and British nationals, including from groups and individuals who view the UK and British nationals as targets. You should remain vigilant at all times.”
