Former President calls on West to allow long-range weapons to be used on Russia

29th Oct 24 7:33 am

Petro Poroshenko who served as the fifth President of Ukraine until 2019 called on Western partners on the Polish TV channel TVP World to lift restrictions for Ukraine on the use of long-range missiles on Russian territory,

The website of European Solidarity reports that Poroshenko following confirmation of Iranian missiles, drones and North Korean soldiers in Russia due to fight on the frontlines in Ukraine, Kyiv has the right to destroy Vladimir Putin’s military bases.

He said that Ukraine has the right to destroy all military facilities that are being used to target civilian infrastructure and their soldiers.

Poroshenko said, “We are still waiting for a very important, vital decision from the United States and Germany to grant permission for our troops to use long-range missiles on legitimate targets on Russian territory.

“And Taurus, these are German very modern, very effective missiles. I cannot understand why the Ukrainian military, who protects civilian objects on Ukrainian territory, cannot destroy legitimate objects on Russian territory.

“For example, now we have data on North Korean artillery shells, North Korean and Iranian missiles, and we do not have the ability to destroy them immediately when we receive this information,” the leader of European Solidarity added.

He said in a message to Western partners that it is in Europe’s interest that Putin does not win the war in Ukraine.

Poroshenko said, “This is our common war, and Ukraine’s victory is definitely in the interests of the Free World. I think that it is no coincidence that Russia uses North Korean artillery shells, North Korean soldiers, and Iranian attack drones. In this situation, we want to count on our partners.

“Another thing that is vitally important for us is an invitation to NATO. Without inviting Ukraine to NATO, there will be no stable security situation on the continent. Without Ukraine’s membership in NATO, there will be no victory.

“However, along with this invitation, we must not have a compromise on the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.

“Definitely no compromise on the territorial integrity of Ukraine. No compromise on the ability of the army to protect Ukrainian territory and security in Europe. No compromise on sanctions. We must reduce Putin’s ability to finance the war. And no compromise on any blackmail of Putin, so as not to allow NATO’s doors to be closed to Ukraine.”
