Following many months of anticipation with regard to the future of the Night Tube we are still no further forward. Time is running out, winter is drawing in and the holiday season towards the end of this year will be with us very shortly.
The challenges around vulnerability and safety of our staff and customers is extremely important. The night tube is an important and safe dispersal mechanism for many late night business hubs across the city, and must be a priority for the Mayor and TFL over the coming weeks.
Michael Kill CEO NTIA said, “The Night Tube in London is fundamental to the recovery of the Night Time Economy. As we move into winter and the oncoming holiday season it is vitally important that the night tube is back in service.”
“Late night economy businesses are heavily reliant on the late night infrastructure of the city, and particularly during the high volume periods, it is vitally important when it comes to customer and staff safety.”
“At a point when businesses are at their most fragile in terms of recovery, we have seen challenges unfold around limitations in trade or event capacity directly related to available infrastructure.”
“I would urge the Mayor and TFL to consider the implications of having a limited infrastructure during the holiday season, and make every effort to get these services operational, or compromise business recovery leading through to the slower trading period of Q1 2022.”
