Betfair Spokesperson, Sam Rosbottom said, “The Prime Minister’s leaving party – or just a business meeting with cheese and wine – is now closer than ever, according to Betfair Exchange punters.
“In the past week, the odds for Boris Johnson to leave his role as PM in 2021 have been backed into 15/1 from 149/1. For him to leave the role in 2022 is proving to be a popular choice too, with the odds being slashed from 21/1 to 7/5 in the past seven days.
“Punters have also been having their say on if he will be Prime Minister for the next Conservative Party Conference on Betfair Exchange’s Yes or No market. Earlier this week, he was 3/1 to not be in charge by then, but since the recent news headlines his odds have been cut to 7/5 to leave Number 10 by the next conference.”
“Meanwhile, following the calamitous week that Boris Johnson has had, we have seen plenty of action on the Betfair Exchange’s next Prime Minister market.
“Rishi Sunak is the 11/4 favourite with the punters to take over at Number 10 after Johnson, while Liz Truss has been the biggest mover in the market. The former Foreign Secretary has been backed in from 33/1 earlier in the year to 11/2 now.”
