The US and UK have issued warnings that they are expecting “extremists have imminent plans to target large gatherings in Moscow.”

The US issued the warning late last night that all American citizens in Moscow should “avoid large gatherings” over the next “48 hours.”

The US embassy in Moscow said that people should monitor local media for any updates and they must “be aware” of their surroundings.

The warning was issued after Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said they foiled an attack on a synagogue in Moscow by a cell of a militant Sunni Muslim group of Islamic State.

“The embassy is monitoring reports that extremists have imminent plans to target large gatherings in Moscow, to include concerts, and US citizens should be advised to avoid large gatherings over the next 48 hours,” it said in a statement.

On Friday morning the British Foreign Office warned of an “imminent” extremist threat in the Russian capital.

The Foreign Office are warning Brits to be aware of “drone attacks” and they are also advising all UK citizens to “consider leaving” Russia.

The UK already has travel warnings against any travel to Russia due to Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine.

The British Foreign Office updated on their Russia travel advice page, saying, “The United States embassy in Moscow issued a travel advisory which says ‘the embassy is monitoring reports that extremists have imminent plans to target large gatherings in Moscow, to include concerts, and US citizens should be advised to avoid large gatherings over the next 48 hours’.”
