FIFA to elect new president as soon as possible
Sepp Blatter is set to step down as FIFA president within a week of being elected for his fifth-term.
The news comes as FIFA is embroiled in one of the biggest corruption scandals in football history.
FIFA said it will name its new president as soon as possible.
Blatter said: “I am very much linked to FIFA and its interests and the interests are dear to me. This is why I have taken this decision.
“I would like to thank everyone who has always supported me in a constructive and loyal manner as president of FIFA.”
