Barclays is in hot water after one of its employees accidentally emailed tech company Nutmeg talking about his plans to “steal” ideas from the London-based company.
The employee was meant to reply to his friend who recommended the site but ended up emailing technology entrepreneur Nick Hungerford’s website instead.
In the email, the employee said, “Signed up a few weeks ago — cool tools on their site. We’re going to steal them.”
Speaking about the incident, Hungerford told the Evening Standard: “I’m surprised that Barclays appears to want to copy Nutmeg’s product. This feels somewhat inappropriate, but we will take it as a compliment.”
A source told the Standard that the Barclays employee “had been spoken to.”
