Boris Johnson is set to apologise to the House of Commons on Tuesday and odds on Betfair Exchange have been slashed from 11/5 to 2/1 for the Prime Minister to leave his role this year following a flurry of bets.

Johnson is 16/5 to depart by next year and 6/5 to be gone by 2024 or later, meanwhile, Liz Truss is the 6/1 favourite to succeed Johnson as Tory leader and she is followed closely by Ben Wallace (7/1).

Tom Tugendhat: 17/2

Jeremy Hunt: 17/2

Penny Mordaunt: 11/1

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said, “The pressure on Boris Johnson’s position remains, with the Prime Minister set to apologise to the House of Commons for breaking lockdown rules.

“Following a flurry of bets over the Easter weekend, odds on Betfair Exchange have been slashed on Johnson to leave his role this year, which is now 2/1, having been 11/5 last week, while he is 16/5 to go by 2023.
